Tarlabasi is an urban region near to Taksim. It is in the center of Istanbul that`s why it has an important economic value. The policy of the city planning is to transform its old and historical architecture into clean hotels and markets. Mostly Kurdish people live here. They are poor but have a peaceful life. Is it fair to spoil their lively and colorful life?
VJ Fest Istanbul is an independent live audiovisuals art festival. Its aim is to improve veejaying culture. All activities are free and open.

Artist duo Mayer+Empl realized their architectural video projection designs for two nights on 12-14th June 2012 at Vj Fest Istanbul video-music festival. Real-time projections appeared in the streets on the old and historical buildings in Beyoglu and Tarlabasi, Istanbul, Turkey Martin Mayer aka VJ Sinsynplus performed his live visuals with DJs Meric Bros from Turkey at Peyote Club on the festival`s audiovisuals party on 16th June. Besides live visual performances Martin and Quirin shared their knowledge in the workshops held at KozaVisual Association within the festivals activities.

işbirliğiyle
Münih’te yaşayan Martin Mayer&Quirin Empl, bu yıl beşincisi 12-16 Haziran’da düzenlenen Uluslararası Canlı Audio-Video Performans Festivali’nde, mimari formlar kullanarak gerçekleştirdikleri etkileyici grafik ve ışık enstalasyonlarından oluşan sıradışı multimedyal yapıtlarını sergilediler.
VJ Fest Istanbul, her yıl tüm dünyadan video performans sanatçılarını, yapıtlarını sunmak ve sanatları ve teknikleriyle ilgili bilgilerini paylaşmak üzere bir araya getiriyor. Festival sırasında, konuyla ilgilenenler için, Veejaying ile ilgili bilgilendirme ve VJ tekniklerini geliştirme hedefli sunumlar yapılıyor ve atölyeler düzenleniyor. 12-13-15-16 Haziran’daki atölyeler Koza Görsel Sanatlar Derneği’nde ücretsiz gerceklesti.
Bu sene Galata Kulesi`nde, Hazzo Pulo Pasajinda, İstiklal Caddesi’nde, Tarlabasi`nda ve Peyote’de sokak müziği ve video yansıtma, graffiti, işitsel-görsel canlı performanslar, VJ-DJ eylemleri düzenlendi. Detaylı bilgi için http://vjfestist.org.
Bu yıl multimedya sanatçıları Martin Mayer&Quirin Empl VJ Fest’e katıldilar ve sanatlarını “mapping” yoluyla Hazzo Pulo’daki eski mimariyi dışarıdaki sesi ve canlı müziği kullanarak görsele çevirdiler. Sanatçılar, mekansal koşullarla ve mevcut mimariyle yakın bir ilişki kuran yaklaşımlarıyla, bir mekanın biçimini ve özelliklerini kaydediyor ve yeniden kuruyorlar. Mekanı tanımlayan verilerdeki değişiklikler, dinamik şekilde dijital verileriyle bağlantılandırılıyor ve eş zamanlı olarak video projektörleri ile gerçek mimariye yeniden aktarılıyor. Bu şekilde, kullanıcıya bağlı, görsel bir mekan tasarımı ortaya çıkıyor.
